As we say goodbye to 2019 and enter 2020, you may be making resolutions to make the most out of the new decade. Forward-looking resolutions are extremely important; after all, setting goals is a key component in terms of both personal and business success.
Equally as important, but more often overlooked, is the process of reflecting on all of the things you were able to accomplish in 2019. This is especially important in a business context- how can you know where you are going if you have not looked back to learn from where you have been? There are a number of reasons that you should take the time to celebrate your accomplishments. Here are just a few:
You Deserve It!
You have worked hard all year. Maybe you finally established that LLC that you have been working on for what felt like ages. Perhaps you have finally moved your staff from independent contractors to full-time payroll employees. Maybe you have exceeded your revenue goals for the last year. Whatever goals you have accomplished, they came with hard work and personal investment along the way. It is important that you do not let yourself get burned out. Take a break and acknowledge the hard work that you and your partners have put into your success.
Your Partners and Colleagues Deserve It!
It is unlikely that you have come this far on your own. By taking time to acknowledge your accomplishments, you are giving your colleagues, partners, and employees permission to do the same for theirs. When everyone celebrates their accomplishments, it strengthens your bond as a team and encourages your fellow employees to keep up the good work.
Accomplishments Beget More Accomplishments
When you have a positive outlook and acknowledge your accomplishments, your celebratory perception perpetuates itself. An object in motion stays in motion, and you are an object on track to continued success.
Let Your Customers Know
Take time to publicly celebrate your accomplishments. Your customers and clients want to have confidence in you, so give them that extra boost by taking a moment to establish your results. Publish a newsletter or post about your year-long accomplishments on social media. You have earned your achievements; don’t be afraid to brag a little about the great things you have accomplished in your business ventures.
Whatever form your celebration takes, make sure to take some time to recognize the successes you have achieved this year. Running a business is a huge undertaking, and the good times include just as many lessons as the bad. Happy New Year, and congratulations on all of your accomplishments, from the team at MD Andersen, CPA, PA.
